Claire Million embarked on her remarkable journey into the realm of acrobatics in 2016, and from that moment, she knew that the stage was her calling. She dedicated herself to mastering the art, of aerial rope and silks. As well as relentlessly training hula hoops and partner acrobatics. Her journey led her to the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) in 2019, where she honed her skills even further and refined her creative vision.

It was at NICA where Claire became fascinated with how circus pushed the boundaries of gender in the circus industry. How a female base was celebrated. A delicate, strong man performing silks was considered artistry, and the influence of the drag community was intertwined within the history of their own dance moves. But Claire noticed that in our western culture, most diabolists were men. And they are men who don’t usually stray far from the traditional styles of performing.

With the influence and guidance of Chinese diaboloist and contortion coaches as well as Australian manipulation coaches, Claire produced her own distinct style of feminine movement qualities woven with typical masculine style of circus skills.

The Architect of Extravagance

It was only five months after her time at NICA that Claire Million began to envision the shows that would later take Melbourne by storm. She knew it was going to be difficult to navigate a new industry with no name to herself. So instead, with with boundless energy and a burning passion for performance, she crafted the concept of Carnival of Karactors and Kabarisque. These shows, now celebrated as some of Melbourne's most dazzling spectacles, would not have come to life without Claire's visionary leadership and the guidance of Club Voltaire’s theatre owner Lindsay Saddington. . Her aim; to give every emerging artist a safe space to perform the types of work they are proud of and assist in giving them a platform for their acts in Melbourne.

In the world of modeling, acrobatics, and artistic creation, Claire Million stands as a shining example of what is possible when talent and ambition unite. As she continues to redefine the boundaries of her craft, audiences eagerly await the next chapter in her journey, ready to be transported into the enchanting worlds she conjures with each performance.
